Historic England’s Heritage Schools Award recognises and celebrates the great work schools do to ensure young people can learn about and enjoy the heritage of where they live and how it connects to regional, national and global history.
To gain the award your school needs to show that it meets the following criteria:
- It delivers heritage projects and activities with pupils as part of the curriculum
- It engages with local heritage and cultural partners/sites to support learning and broaden heritage and cultural experiences for pupils
- It supports teaching staff in developing knowledge and skills to use and embed local heritage into the curriculum (INSET, CPD, working with local heritage partners, internal staff development etc.)
